Sources say the College Football Playoff and ESPN are finalizing a deal to expand the field from 12 teams to 24, and Thamel joins The Paul Finebaum Show to break down the decision.

The CFP reached a "handshake agreement" with ESPN to broadcast a 24-team playoff beginning in the 2027 season, sources told ESPN on Friday, and though there is work to be done on paper, this is a significant step closer to doubling the postseason field.
