John Riggins' 43-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-1 with 10:10 remaining gave Washington an insurmountable 20-17 lead in Super Bowl XVII. Riggins was named MVP, finishing with 166 rushing yards.
The Commanders are retiring the No. 44 worn by Hall of Famer and franchise rushing leader John Riggins -- more than 40 years after one of the most famous runs in Super Bowl history.
